Peru

High in the mountains there are ancient cities of stone,

perfectly cut.

The cities were built     one on top of the     One that stood before.

as people came, and conquered, and lost.

Cuzco, through, survived and thrived.

Both its buildings and its people are a mix of old and new,

both so so full of life,

and festivals link the two together.

There are children everywhere, pensive, beautiful children.

Sassy and shy, happy, and sad,

skipping, dancing, watching,

talking.

Hidden away,       on the hill sides

and mountain   tops     are cities

like Machu Picchu,   once lost, now freed once more of   choking vegetation,

hewn out of   the mountains   themselves

yet blonging still.
